Liskeard Area Memory Café was set up in February 2010 by Kate Mort and Pat Baldaccini-Jones. Having both worked as nurses in Lamellion hospital, Liskeard, they identified a need for people suffering from dementia and their carers. Both Kate and Pat’s mothers had dementia and they had first hand knowledge of the disease.
Sadly, Pat died in 2011 and Kate continued to run the memory cafe together with volunteers and helpers.
The Café has recently celebrated it’s 8th birthday and is going from strength to strength and encouraging more people to join us.
Memory Cafes are for those experiencing early stage dementia, mild memory loss or cognitive impairment and their carers.
Memory Cafes are safe places to have fun, be creative, sit and chat, cake and refreshments, information and support.
